A Medical Assistant resume should run one to two pages. Licensure, certifications, and clinical rotations justify the second page without padding. Recruiters hiring for this role screen for active licensure, certifications, the EMR you use, and your unit acuity before they read anything else, so those details belong in the top third of page one rather than at the end.

Lead with the skills that appear most often in Medical Assistant job descriptions: Patient Intake, Vital Signs, EMR (Epic, eClinicalWorks), Phlebotomy, Injections, EKG. Put them in a dedicated licenses & certifications section so applicant tracking systems can parse them, then prove the important ones again inside your experience bullets. Skills claimed in a list but never demonstrated in context carry very little weight with a human reviewer.

Use a single-column layout, standard section headings, and no graphics or text boxes. Put licenses and certifications above experience — clinical recruiters screen on them first. Name the EMR exactly (Epic, Cerner, Meditech); it is a common hard filter.
